Frequently asked questions

We're here to help with any questions you have about credits that travel with the file.

Are credits embedded inside the audio files?

No. Embedding metadata in audio files is unreliable, often stripped by DAWs, and lost when files are converted to new formats. Instead, Sound Credit stores credits securely and links them to files in a managed, sharable system. Then the full data is exported to each destination in the specific format that each requires.

Can credits get lost when I bounce a new mix?

Not with Sound Credit. As long as your project folder is synced, new versions inherit their original credits unless you specify otherwise.

What if someone sends a stem or alt mix from Sound Credit, do credits go too?

Yes. Any file shared from your project retains the associated credits, splits, and identifiers.

Can I include credits in my exports?

Yes. Credits are automatically included in exports like label copy, session reports, split sheets, and metadata submissions.

How is this different from tagging in iTunes or embedding ID3 tags?

Those formats are limited, easy to overwrite, and often ignored by modern systems. Sound Credit keeps credits structured, verified, and platform-ready.

Why is it important that credits “travel”?

Because music passes through many hands. Keeping credits attached ensures accurate payment, proper recognition, and lasting attribution across every version and platform.
