Frequently asked questions

We're here to help with any questions you have about label-ready metadata.

What’s considered “label-ready” metadata?

Details like ISRCs, writer IPIs, artist roles, studios, and accurate track-level credits, all structured in formats that labels and distributors accept.

Do I have to enter all of this data manually?

Not necessarily. Much of it can be auto-filled and imported from your previous projects, saved profiles, other tracks, and built-in lookups to speed things up. So you can get back to making music.

Can I export everything for different use cases?

Yes. Sound Credit supports the entry of label copy, publishing label copy, mastering metadata, and more. Then, select from dozens of export formats. You can customize after downloading, or contact us to support your specific format.

Are the export formats accepted by labels and distributors?

Yes. Sound Credit's templates are based on real-world delivery standards used by The Orchard, Big Machine, Warner Music, and others. And Sound Credit supports the DDEX RIN standard XML format for those systems that can ingest it.

What if I don’t know someone’s ISNI or other identifiers?

You can use Sound Credit's ISNI lookup feature, generate a new ISNI, or use the global profile search to find their identifiers.

Is this just for major label projects?

No. Indie artists, producers, and studios use Sound Credit every day to prepare for releases and ensure they have complete, professional metadata.

Can I enter mastering and session metadata too?

Yes. Fields like studio name, engineer role, mastering format, and session details are all available.
